British Prime Minister Theresa May headed to Copenhagen on Monday to meet with her Danish counterpart for talks on bilateral relations following a recent nerve agent attack in Salisbury and Britain's upcoming departure from the EU.

Following talks with Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, May is set to travel to neighbouring Sweden for talks with Prime Minister Stefan Lofven on the same topics.

Moscow has repeatedly denied responsibility for the March 4 attack on former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, who were found unconscious on a park bench in the town of Salisbury and remain in hospital.

Denmark and Sweden are among over a dozen European countries that have sided with May's government in maintaining that Russia was behind the attack.

Copenhagen recently expelled two Russian diplomats in solidarity with Britain, while Stockholm expelled one Russian diplomat. Moscow retaliated by expelling the same number of diplomats from Denmark and Sweden.

At the weekend, Lofven told Swedish Radio that Russia has the burden of proof to show it was not the source of the nerve agent.
