British Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed pro-Brexit Conservative lawmaker Penny Mordaunt to serve as international development secretary, a day after Priti Patel resigned from the post over undeclared meetings with Israeli officials.
Like Patel and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, Mordaunt, 44, was a high-profile member of last year's Vote Leave campaign for Brexit.
She is being promoted from the post of minister of state for disabled people, health and work, after previously serving as a minister for armed forces.
