Zambia and Turkey have signed a four-year educational development cooperation deal, namely regarding science programs in the southern African country.
Education Minister Nkandu Luo and Turkish Ambassador to Zambia Sebnem Incesu signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MuO) in the capital Lusaka on Wednesday.
"Turkey will help Zambia [...] in the field of science training, including nuclear development," said the Turkish ambassador after the signing ceremony.
Luo told journalists that the MoU aims to establish the institutional framework for Turkey and Zambia to organize academic and scientific exchange programs between the two countries.
"The two countries envisage supporting not only educational and internship mobility of the students, academic staff but also research at high education [level]," she said.
According to Luo, the agreement will also aim to encourage the implementation of joint diploma programs at the higher education level.
