Turkish airstrikes kill 8 PKK terrorists

Turkish military Friday killed at least eight terrorists in separate air operations in the country's southeastern Şırnak province and northern Iraq, statements said.

According to a statement by the Şırnak Governor's Office, after an unmanned air vehicle located five terrorists in the Güçlükonak district, attack helicopters were sent to the area.

The air forces killed four of the five terrorists in the early hours of Friday.

Later, Turkish General Staff announced the deaths of four more PKK terrorists in northern Iraq.

According to the statement, Turkish air forces carried out an air operation in Avasin-Basyan area of northern Iraq, killing four terrorists.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, has waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years, during which more than 40,000 people have been killed. It is also involved in illicit drug production, manufacturing, and trafficking.
