Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive for an official visit in Turkey Sunday, a statement from Turkey's presidential press center said.
Abbas, who was invited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is expected to hold a meeting with Turkish officials between Aug. 27-29, according to the statement.
Erdoğan and Abbas will discuss Turkish-Palestinian relations as well as the revival of the reconciliation and peace process, the statement said.
The sides are also expected to talk about Israeli policies regarding Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary), known to Jews as Temple Mount, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. President Erdoğan on numerous occasions denounced various Israeli-imposed restrictions on holy Muslim sites, and expressed support for the Palestinian people during the tensions.
