At least five civilians were killed in two car bomb blasts in southern part of capital Baghdad Sunday, according to a police official.

"Three people were killed and another six injured when a car bomb parked by the side of a road in the fourth police area blew up in southern Baghdad," Police Capt. Nazhan al-Khader told Anadolu Agency.

"At least two people were killed and another four injured in another car bomb explosion while the latter was parked by the side of a road in the Abu Dasheer area southern Baghdad," al-Khader added.

No group has taken responsibility for the attacks so far. However, security officials usually claim that Daesh is behind such attacks.

The attacks in Baghdad come as Iraqi forces are poised to retake Tal Afar district in western Mosul from Daesh terrorist organization.
