Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council's National Metrology Institute will establish labs in Sudan, the council's President, Prof. Dr. Arif Ergin, told Anadolu Agency Friday.

Ergin said the project worth $1.13 million was essential and would boost cooperation between the two countries.

He said the decision to establish the labs was taken after talks with the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization.

The project will be carried out in three years by the institute's Medical Metrology Laboratory, including installation of electrocardiogram, patient simulator, ultrasound calibrator for diagnosis, phototherapy radiometer, lung simulator, pressure, humidity and temperature measurement systems.

Sudanese researchers will also be trained in Turkey, Ergin added.
