A suicide bombing killed at least 25 opposition fighters in southern Syria late Friday, according to a pro-opposition activist.

A bomber believed to be a Daesh militant blew up himself inside a training camp of Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam) group in Daara countryside near Syria's border with Jordan, Abu Muthanna al-Khalidi told Anadolu Agency.

He said scores of opposition fighters were also injured in the attack.

The activist said the bombing struck after the opposition fighters finished their training.

Six opposition fighters had been killed in an explosion inside base of the Free Syrian Army in Daraa earlier this week.

Syria has been locked in a devastating civil war since early 2011, when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have been killed and millions more displaced by the conflict.
