Police have arrested 64 teenagers at a pool party in Iran.

The teens in the central city of Isfahan held a pool party, which was reported to police by neighbours, according to Iranian news agency Tasnim.

The police arrested all 64 people at the gathering, Tasnim said Wednesday.

Alcohol and parties, particularly with teenagers, are forbidden in Iran.

Iranian President Hassan Rowhani has pleaded for respecting the privacy of citizens.

Nevertheless, private parties are regularly stormed by police, who arrest hosts and guests temporarily. The detainees are usually handed heavy fines.
