Pro-government fighters killed in Iraq car bombing

PRO-GOVERNMENT FIGHTERS KILLED IN IRAQ CAR BOMBING

Three members of a pro-government militia have been killed in a car bomb attack in northern Iraq, the military said Wednesday.

The attack came at a security checkpoint manned by Hashd al-Shaabi, a Shia militia, in eastern Saladin province late Tuesday, Capt. Saad Mohamed told Anadolu Agency. Three other fighters were injured in the attack, he added.

There was no claim of responsibility but the area has been the target of repeated attacks by Daesh militants from Shirqat town, which is still held by the terrorist group.

Earlier this month, Iraq formally declared victory over Daesh in Mosul, the terrorist group's last major stronghold in Iraq.
