Turkey has offered condolences to Kyrgyzstan after a massive landslide that killed 24 on Saturday.

"We learned with sorrow that a landslide in the Uzgen region of the city of Osh in the south of Kyrgyz Republic resulted in the loss of 24 lives, including nine children," Turkey's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

"​We wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives and convey our condolences to their relatives as well as to the brotherly people of the Kyrgyz Republic."

Heavy rain was behind the deadly landslide.
