Though the world's influential political leaders, governments and international institutions have so far done little to avert the atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslim minority community, public sympathy towards the Rohingya is rising worldwide. Tens of thousands of people rallied in Pakistan's northwest city Peshawar on Sunday to express solidarity with Myanmar's minority Rohingya Muslims and show their anger at the silence of the international communities.
