Macron to lift state of emergency

The French parliament approved a new controverisal anti-terrorism law, replacing the soon-to-expire two-year state of emergency.

The new legislation has prompted fears that it will severely limit civil liberties.

The new anti-terrorism law gives law enforcement greater authority to conduct searches, to close religious facilities and to restrict the movements of people suspected of terrorism ties.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanueal Macron stated that he will lift the state of emergency on November 1st.
