French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that he had not meant to signal a change in the U.S. position on Syria, denying what he had said during a live television interview a day earlier.
Macron's statement came after the White House rebuffed his statement that he had convinced President Donald Trump from withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria.
