Turkey, Russia, Iran seek long-lasting solution to civil war

Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, accompanied with head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan met with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.

Amid Turkey's preparations to launch an operation in Afrin, officials discussed recent developments in war-torn country Syria.

They also exchanged their views on the Astana and Geneva peace initiatives upcoming Sochi summit, as well as regional security issues.

The meeting was held in a constructive manner as Akar, Fidan and Shoygu discussed matters of common interest.

Turkey, Russia and Iran, as guarantor states, have been closely working to find a long-lasting solution to the Syrian civil war.
