Işık: Turkey needs an air defense system

Following the meeting with his counterpart James Mattis at the Pentagon, Turkey's Defense Minister Fikri Işık addressed SETA , the Turkish think-tank, in washington. The minister underlined the current cooperation between the united states and Turkey, particularly the continuing level of security in Syria.

He highlighted the importance of the us airstrike on the Assad regime in retaliation to the chemical weapons attack, saying that trump's encouraging response has created a great deal of sympathy in the region.

As a nato-member, Turkey's procurement of the Russian s-400 missile system has raised concerns. however Minister Işık underlined Turkey's need for this defense system.
