Argentina's National Team Coach Edgardo Bauza has been released from his role, the Country's National Football Association said monday. "We have told Bauza that he is no longer coach of the team," AFA President Claudio Tapia told reporters
The 59-year-old former Argentina National Team player had been in charge of the team for 249 days, but the albiceleste had struggled recently in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia, picking up only 11 points from a possible 24 during Bauza's reign.
The 2014 World Cup finalists from Rio are at risk of missing the coming world cup completely, currently sitting fifth in South American qualifying.
The team lost their last qualifer 2-0 against Bolivia on march 28 in La Paz.
A new coach for the team has not yet been announced.
