According to a statement released by Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council on Thursday, a court in Baghdad issued an arrest warrant for vice-president of Northern Iraq's Kurdish Regional Government, Kosrat Rasul

The statement said: "the Rusafa investigations court has issued an arrest warrant for Kosrat Rasul, following the latter's recent statements in which he referred to Iraqi federal police units in Kirkuk as 'occupying forces',"

Rasul compared the operations of Iraqi forces in Kirkuk to the Anfal operations carried out by former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein during the 1980s

Meanwhile on Thursday the Iraqi Turkmen Front's office in Kirkuk was torched

A police officer said; "Unidentified persons set fire to the itf's office in Kirkuk's Altun Kubri sub-district on Thursday morning" before adding that the entire building was burnt to the ground
