Police arrested Friday 18 suspects in the capital over alleged fraud in an exam police commissioner candidates took in 2011, an Ankara prosecutor said.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's office said the commissioner hopefuls involved with the Fetullah Terrorist Organization had seen the test paper ahead of the exam.

The statement said a police search was underway for three more suspects.

The exam fraud investigations are part of an ongoing probe against the FETO.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
