Turkish security forces apprehended a PKK terrorist in the southeastern Diyarbakır province, according to the military on Wednesday.

The Turkish General Staff released on Wednesday information regarding Tuesday's "domestic incidents" and "daily activities" on its website.

According to the statment, a PKK terrorist carrying a rifle was caught in the Silvan district of Diyarbakır province on Tuesday.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.

A total of 1,039 undocumented migrants were also held while they were illegally attempting to cross from Syria into Turkey, it said.

Border guards also caught a person who was trying to cross into Turkey from Greece and seven others attempting to enter Greece from Turkey.

Turkey has been the main route for refugees trying to cross into Europe since the beginning of the civil war in Syria.
