Turkey's president meets opposition party leader

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday met an opposition leader who has agreed to from an alliance with the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party for the 2019 elections.

Erdoğan received the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara.

The 35-minute meeting was closed to the media.

On Monday, Bahçeli announced his party will not field a candidate for the presidential election and instead support Erdoğan's re-election.
