Twenty-two people were convicted of being linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and sentenced to various jail sentences in four separate court hearings on Tuesday, according to judicial officials.

At the central province Eskişehir's 2nd High Criminal Court, 19 out of 27 suspects -- teachers in FETO-linked private schools -- were sentenced to jail terms ranging from three to 12 years for being members of the terrorist group.

Turkey accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

Orchestrated by FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen, last year's defeated coup left 250 people martyred and some 2,200 injured.

Two courts in the southern Kahramanmaraş province separately sentenced two people to up to seven years and six months in jail for being linked to FETO.

In another hearing, the 11th High Criminal Court in the southern Adana province sentenced a former imam linked to FETO to 12 years in prison.
