The construction of the new Istanbul TV tower located on Istanbul's Asian side is nearing the end.

Reports said Wednesday that workers had started to work on the last section of the steel suspension of the tower, which will have a height of 365 meters and will replace a clutter of TV, telecom antennae.

The new Istanbul tower will also be seen from many places in the city.

Expected to be Istanbul's new symbol, the tower will have restaurants on its 176th and 180th floors. Furthermore two terraces are planned to be opened for visitors at an altitude of 150 meters. The tower's basement will house libraries and exhibition halls.

The tower, which is estimated to cost about TL 170 million ($45 million), is expected to attract around 4.5 million people a year, and provide its visitors a 360-degree bird's-eye view of the city and its surroundings.

The construction on the tower, which will be 65 meters higher than France's Eiffel, started in March, 2016. When completed, the tower is expected to be approximately 595 meters above sea level.
