Turkey condemned a deadly terrorist attack on a shrine in Pakistan, killing at least 18 people and wounding many others, according to a foreign ministry statement.

In a written statement issued late Thursday, the ministry described the attack as "heinous."

"We learned with great sorrow that many were killed and more wounded due to a terrorist attack perpetrated against a shrine, in Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan province of Pakistan."

"We wish Allah's mercy on those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the wounded, and convey our condolences to the Government and brotherly people of Pakistan," the statement added.

On Thursday, a suspected suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the Sufi shrine minutes before sunset when hundreds of devotees were attending a religious congregation, local broadcaster Geo TV reported quoting police officials.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
