Airstrikes kill 5 PKK terrorists in eastern Turkey
Turkish Air Forces carried out a counterterrorism operation in the eastern Agri province, killing five PKK terrorists, a statement said Thursday.
According to the statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, the fighter jets targeted the terrorists, who were planning attacks on military bases in Diyadin district.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
