Security forces killed two PKK terrorists in southeastern Muş province late Tuesday, the Turkish General Staff said Wednesday.

They were killed in a counter-terrorism air operation as they were planning to attack Turkish troops in Şenyayla region of Mus, according to a statement.

Also in Silopi district of southeastern Şırnak province, six more terrorists surrendered, the statement added.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
