Fenerbahçe won against MKE Ankaragücü 2-1 in Saturday's Turkish Super League match to boost their morale before the next week's away derby against Galatasaray.

Visitors Ankaragücü scored an early opener as Jamaican forward Dever Orgill put the ball into Fenerbahçe net in Kadiköy.

Fenerbahçe's Danish defender Zanka scored the equalizer in the 20th minute at the Ulker Stadium.

Near the end of the first half Fenerbahçe winger Garry Rodrigues had to be subbed out due to an injury.

Home team Fenerbahçe came back in the 73rd minute when their Kosovar striker Vedat Muriqi's close range shot beat Ankaragücü goalkeeper Korcan Çelikay. Muriqi's goal sealed the 2-1 victory in Istanbul.

He was assisted by German attacking midfielder Max Kruse.

This season Kruse was yet to score for Fenerbahçe but produced five assists in five Super Lig appearances.

Following Saturday's win over Ankaragücü, Fenerbahçe -- having 10 points -- went up to the second spot in the league led by Alanyaspor, who have 12 points.

This season Alanyaspor won all their four games to top the Super Lig.

Fenerbahçe started to focus on the Istanbul derby as they will be hosted by rivals Galatasaray in the week six.

Next week's derby will be held in Turk Telekom Stadium on Saturday Sept. 28.
