Reigning Turkish football champs Galatasaray's coach Fatih Terim will be missing the derby against archrivals Fenerbahçe in late September.

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) said on its website on Thursday that the association's arbitration board ordered on Thursday that Terim, 66, will suffer a three-match-ban in the Turkish Super Lig so he can't manage Galatasaray in the home derby against Fenerbahçe.

Terim was previously given a four-match ban over his 'unsportsmanlike remarks' after Galatasaray's match against Kayserispor.

The football federation's discipline committee had also banned Terim to access Galatasaray's dressing room for the next four matches but the arbitration board reduced this penalty to three games on Thursday.

So he will miss the matches against Kasımpaşa on Friday, Yeni Malatyaspor and Fenerbahçe.

Galatasaray will host Fenerbahçe on Sept. 28 at Turk Telekom Stadium.

Terim is regarded as one of the most respected coaches in Turkish football history, winning eight Super Lig titles with Galatasaray.

He is still the only Turkish coach bringing a major European title to Turkey.

During the Terim era Galatasaray won Europe's second-tier trophy, the UEFA Cup in 2000 after beating English powerhouse Arsenal on penalties.

In addition to Galatasaray, Terim previously managed Italian clubs Fiorentina and AC Milan as well as Turkey national football team.
