FIFA-certified Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir and his two assistants Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun have been assigned to officiate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

FIFA announced World Cup referees list on its website Thursday.

There will be 35 other referees from Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, South, and North America.

FIFA Referees Committee also picked 63 assistant referees for Russia 2018.

Cakir previously officiated in the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.

Cakir refereed two group matches and a semi-final match between the Netherlands and Argentina.

South American football heavyweights Argentina knocked the Dutch team out of the tournament by 4-2 on penalties in semis and faced Germany in World Cup final in Rio De Janeiro.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will begin on June 14 and will end on July 15.
