Werder Bremen is placing its trust in former under-23 coach Florian Kohfeldt to lead the side as coach at least until the end of the year.

The Bundesliga side, which appointed Kohfeldt on an interim basis after firing Alexander Nouri as coach on Oct. 30, says it has ended its search for a replacement for now.

Sporting director Frank Baumann says, "We are convinced that Florian should continue his work at least until the winter break. He's earned this chance through his positive work over the last few days."

Kohfeldt lost his first game in charge at Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 thanks to a late goal last weekend, but the side appeared revitalized after failing to win any of its first 10 Bundesliga games.

Bremen is 17th in the 18-team league with five points from 11 games, and only four goals scored.
