Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich said Sunday they are signing attacking midfielder Serge Gnabry, their third new German international for the 2017-18 season.

Bayern said that Gnabry, 21, will sign a three-year contract until 2020 as he joins from Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee after activating a release clause there on Thursday.

"We're pleased that in Serge Gnabry another young German international is coming to FC Bayern. Serge has developed a lot at Bremen," Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a club statement.

Gnabry said: "It's a great honour to become part of FC Bayern. It's going to be an exciting time and one that I'm very much looking forward to."

The 2016 Olympic silver medallist and twice-capped Gnabry scored 11 goals in 27 league games during his one season at Bremen.

He struggled to make an impact towards the end of the season after returning from injury and was not picked for the Confederations Cup by Germany coach Jopachim Loew. But he is aprt of the under-21 national team for the fourthcoming European championships in Poland.

Gnabry, who was already linked with a future move to Munich when he joined Bremen, is Bayern's third summer signing, following defender Niklas Suele and midfielder Sebastian Rudy who both join from Hoffenheim.
