Palestinian resistance factions fired several rockets on Monday night at two Israeli cities located near the blockaded Gaza Strip.

"The cities of Sderot and Netivot were both targeted in response to Israeli airstrikes on our offices and civil institutions," Gaza-based resistance factions said in a joint statement.

Gaza's Health Ministry, meanwhile, reported that at least seven Palestinians had been injured in fierce Israeli airstrikes carried out across the Hamas-run coastal enclave.

Earlier Monday, rocket-fire emanating from the Gaza Strip reportedly left seven Israelis injured.

In response, the Israeli army deployed missile-defense batteries in several locations across the country and sent two additional infantry brigades to the fraught Gaza-Israel buffer zone.
