Turkish-American cardiac surgeon and talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz on Friday called for helping Syrian youth in shaping their bright future.
Speaking at a health panel in Istanbul, Oz said: "I am hopeful about the future of those [Syrian] youth because they want to rise."
"What we should do is to lend a hand and help them stand on their own feet," he added.
Underlining the importance of coming together from different nations to resolve the refugee crisis, Oz said: "I see this togetherness as an opportunity for all the humanity to take a step for a brighter future."
Oz -- who is widely known for his television program The Dr. Oz Show, which has won several Daytime Emmy Awards -- had visited refugee camps in Turkey's southeastern Gaziantep province and Syria's northwestern Azaz region in July.
He had shared footage on his Twitter account of war-devastated Homs city in western Syria, as well as of his visits to the camps.
Turkey hosts more Syrian refugees than any other country in the world. The country has spent more than €30 billion from its own national resources for helping and sheltering refugees since the beginning of the Syrian civil war.
