A new book on the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey has been published in five languages on the second anniversary of the attempted putsch.

In a statement, the TRT World Research Center said the book edited by historian Halil Berktay, History and Memory: TRT World in the Face of July 15 Coup, is being published in English, Arabic, German, Russian, and Turkish.

The book's first chapter explores the background and nature of the coup attempt, key figures in the attempt, and the leading actors who stood against the coup bid.

"This chapter also explains how FETO infiltrated state offices over the years and how Fetullah Gulen masterminded the coup," said the statement, referring to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen.

Chapter two features the experiences of TRT World employees from the night of July 15 and the morning after.

The book is also available on the website of Turkish broadcaster TRT World in all five languages to make it more accessible to readers.

FETO orchestrated the defeated coup of July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
