World War II-era bomb in German city of Koblenz successfully defused

A 500-kilogram World War II bomb in the Karthause section of the German city of Koblenz has been defused, according to the local fire department.

The 21,000 residents who live within a 1-kilometre radius of the bomb's location are now allowed to return after a large-scale evacuation operation.
