Dutch security authorities were on Wednesday investigating an alleged Daesh terrorist threat against the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 tournament.

The threat was made in a chatroom used by the Daesh group and specifically cited the game on July 19 in Utrecht when England plays Scotland.

"The clues are being analysed," a spokesman for the counterterrorism agency NCTV said.

The country's terrorism threat level remains at 4, its second-highest position, meaning there is a substantial danger of an attack but no evidence to suggest that one is imminent.

The women's football championship starts on Saturday and lasts until August 6.
