New data released by the Greek authorities on Thursday claim seasonally-adjusted unemployment fell in April to 21.7 percent year-on-year -- a drop of 1.9 percent from the same month in 2016.
The Hellenic Statistical Authority said just under 3.75 million people were in employment; 1.04 million were unemployed and over 3.2 million were economically inactive.
In addition, the report said the number of employed people grew by almost 80,000 in April compared with the same month last year -- an increase of 2.2 percent.
The number of unemployed fell 92,657 compared with April 2016 -- an 8.2 percent decline.
The amount of people not working nor seeking a job fell by 22,850 compared with April last year -- a decline of 0.7 percent.
More positive news for Greece came in another report by the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research, which announced that the troubled EU state's economy would grow by 1.5 percent this year.
However, the organization projected slower growth in 2017 compared to the government's forecasts of 1.8 percent.
The organization also projected Greece's unemployment to continue its decline in 2017.
