One PKK terrorist was apprehended Wednesday by Turkish forces in the southern Kilis province, a security source said.

Speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, the source said the terrorist was trying to enter Turkey from Syria when he was captured in the town of Gulbaba on the Turkey-Syria border.

In addition, one PKK terrorist surrendered to Turkish forces in the Semdinli district of the southeastern Hakkari province, the governorship said in a statement Wednesday.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015.

According to the military, almost 10,000 terrorists have been neutralized in air and land operations since then. More than 7,000 of these terrorists were killed while the rest were wounded, captured or surrendered.
