The Political, Economic and Social Research Foundation (SETA) held a panel in Washington D.C. to discuss last year's failed July 15 coup attempt in Turkey, perpetrated by Pensylvania-based cult leader Fetullah Gülen.

The speakers of the panel, hosted by Kılıç Buğra Kanat, included Political Science Professor Hakan Yavuz from the University of Utah, SETA media director Ismail Çağlar, security studies researcher Necdet Özçelik, and Deputy Chair of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK Party) Party Ravza Kavakçı Kan.

Gendarmerie General Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Yaşar Güler, who was abducted during the coup attempt at gunpoint, also shared his first-hand account of the failed military takeover.
