Turkish motorcyclist Kenan Sofuoğlu suffered pelvic injuries Saturday following a crash in the Superpole at France's Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours at the 2017 Supersport World Championship.

Sofuoğlu was immediately taken to a hospital after the crash caused by poor weather conditions. He will be flying back to Turkey with an air ambulance for surgery arranged by Turkey's health and sports ministries.

After a medical examination, doctors confirmed the Turkish champion has three fractures to his pelvis and is unfit to race at tomorrow's race, the Kwasaki Puccetti team said in a statement.

Sofuoğlu is a leading champion in the WorldSSP, winning the title five times after he broke his own record in 2016.
