Turkey: Motor vehicle registrations rise in September

The number of motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased 7.5 percent year-on-year in September, the country's statistics authority revealed on Thursday.

A total of 86,497 first- and second-hand vehicles were registered in the same month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

Compared to the previous month, motor vehicle registrations slipped by 19.8 percent.

The total number of road motor vehicles registered [...] surpassed 21.94 million by the end of September, TurkStat said.

In September, automobiles accounted for the brunt of new registrations -- 55 percent -- while small trucks accounted for 16.4 percent. Motorcycles represented 14.1 percent.

In terms of distribution of model brands for new registered cars, 15 percent were Volkswagen, 13 percent Renault and 8.9 percent Fiat.
